Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• Account info: your school email, password (handled by our authentication provider, Clerk — we never see it), display name, and optional profile details you add (grad year, gender, major, bio, clubs, social links).
• Content: listings, photos and videos you upload, messages, reviews, posts, and reports you submit.
• Usage data: basic logs (pages loaded, timestamps, IP address) needed to run and secure the service.

2. How we use it

• Verifying you belong to your campus (your email domain determines your campus)
• Showing your listings and profile to other verified students at your campus only
• Delivering messages, notifications, and search results
• Keeping the platform safe: reviewing reports, enforcing blocks and bans, preventing fraud
• Improving the product

We do not sell your personal information.We don't show third-party ads.

3. Who can see what

• Other students at your campus: your display name, profile details you chose to add, your listings, and your reviews. Your email address is never shown.
• Only you:your drafts, your inbox, your notifications, who you've blocked.
• Nobody at other campuses: Dormly is campus-scoped by design — your content is not visible outside your school.

4. Service providers

We use a small number of processors to run Dormly: Clerk (authentication), Neon (database hosting), and our web host. They process data on our behalf under their own security commitments. We may disclose information if required by law or to address safety emergencies.

5. Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting a listing removes it from the marketplace; deleting your account removes your profile and listings from view. Reports and safety records may be retained longer where needed for platform safety or legal reasons.

6. Your choices

• Edit or remove your profile details any time in Edit Profile
• Toggle off discovery features (roommate listing, Greek-life interest) any time
• Block anyone; blocked users can't see or contact you
• Request account deletion or a copy of your data by contacting the Dormly team

7. Security & changes

Data is encrypted in transit, and authentication is handled by a dedicated provider. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong, unique password. We'll announce material changes to this policy in-app.
